Helen L. McSherry, 98, rural Claypool, passed at 3:54 a.m. Friday, July 22, 2016, at Kosciusko Community Hospital, Warsaw.
She was born on Sept. 3, 1917, in Elkhart, to Lee and Ellen (Mollenhour) Hagans.
She was married by Rev. Sholty on July 25, 1936, in Fort Wayne, to Wilbur L. McSherry, who preceded on May 17, 2010.
Helen was a homemaker. She was a graduate of Burket High School in 1936. She was a life long member of the Burket United Methodist Church. She enjoyed refinishing antique furniture, reading, gardening, and her embroidery.
Survivors include two sons: Fred (Marilyn) McSherry, Burket; Steve (Diane) McSherry, Mentone; four grandchildren: Kevin McSherry; Keith McSherry; Cindy Hathaway; and Stephanie Widmaier; seven great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents: Lee and Ellen Hagans; husband: Wilbur McSherry; three brothers: Don; Bob; and Jack Hagans; and three great-granddaughters.
Services will take place at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 26, at King Memorial Home, Mentone, with Pastor Gary Loy and Pastor Sam Carns officiating. Burial will take place at Palestine Cemetery, Palestine. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Monday, July 25, at King Memorial Home, Mentone.
