Patricia BrownPatricia Joan (Vance) Brown, age 77, received her final promotion on Thursday, Aug. 4, 2016, in her Claypool home. Her passing was from complications of renal failure and Amyloidosis.

Patricia, known to friends and family as Pat, was born on Jan. 28, 1939, in Cambridge, Ohio, to the late Jerry V. and Eva (Dunlap) Vance. Her family moved near Eaton when Pat was a small girl. Pat was the ‘baby’ of the family with four older brothers and sisters: Bill, Jerry, Shirley and Mae ‘Sis’ Dillinger.

Pat was married to Wendell D. Brown on May 14, 1954, in Hartford City. They were married for nearly 61 years. Wendell “Brownie” preceded Pat in death in January of 2015.

Pat was a member of Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church near Claypool for several years. For the last 40 years, she was a member of Silver Lake Wesleyan Church.

Pat had several jobs over the years but many will remember her from Cardinal Learning Center, Warsaw, where she was employed most recently.

Pat was known, far and wide, for her pies. Orders would come from all over Claypool for fruit pies, butterscotch pies, and coconut cream pies.

Pat loved her children, their spouses, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren deeply and expressed it often. This love was returned to her from her loved ones.

While Pat did not graduate from high school, she did go back and earned her GED. All of her children were present at her graduation ceremony; they have been very proud of her for this accomplishment. She worked very hard to achieve it.

Pat is survived by her sons: Michael (Jann) Brown, Union, Ohio; Keith (Sheri) Brown, Claypool; Kevin (Candi) Brown, Fort Wayne; daughter: Brenda (Glenn) McClendon, Converse, Texas; a very special son: Henry (Lyndah) Brown, Columbia City; seven grandchildren; and several stepgrandchildren; great-stepgrandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition, she is survived by her brother: Jerry Vance; and sister: Mae “Sis” Dillinger, both of Muncie. Along with her parents and husband, those who preceded Pat in passing include her sister: Shirley Goble; and brother: William Vance.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 13, in Titus Funeral Home, Warsaw. Pat’s funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, August 14, in Garden View Funeral Home, Muncie. There will be an hour of visitation prior to the service.

Gifts in Pat’s memory may be given to the Amyloidosis Foundation, 7151 North Main Street, Suite 2 Clarkston, Michigan 48346.

The staff of Titus Funeral Home considers it a privilege and an honor to care for the friends and family of Patricia J. Brown.
