Charles ‘Rick’ Collins

Charles Rick CollinsCharles ‘Rick’ Collins, 67, passed away at his residence in Claypool, Ind., at 7:39 p.m. on Tuesday Dec. 18, 2012.

On March 29, 1945, Rick was born to Malcolm and Edith (Hall) Collins in Dwale, Ky. On Sept. 5, 1969, he was united in marriage to Betty Prater in Clintwood, Va. They moved to Kosciusko County in 1985.

Rick was a member of the American Legion Post 49 and International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. He served in the United States Army serving in Vietnam for three years. He was in the National Guard for 13 years in Prestonsburg, Ky. He was a carpenter, building homes in Kentucky. Rick worked at Gilbert Corp as a tree trimmer and retired from RR Donnelley & Sons as a material handler. Rick enjoyed fixing watches, hunting and was a Colts fan.

Rick is survived by his wife: Betty; three sons: Charles David (Victoria) Collins, Curtis Ray Collins and Stephen Richard Collins, all of Claypool; five grandchildren; five brothers: Malcolm Holbert Jr ( Cora) Collins, Warsaw, Ind.; Bill David ( Martha) Collins, Prestonsburg; James Curtis ( Lou-Vada) Collins, Warsaw; Floyd Donald ( Pamela Sue) Collins, Prestonsburg; Okie ( Pam) Hall, Claypool; three sisters: Shirley Faye (Jimmy) Martin, West Liberty, Ky; Anita Gaye (Kenneth) Burchett Allen, Ky; and Bessie Sue Collins of Allen County, Ind. Rick was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Velva May Martins.

Visitation will be from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 21, 2012. at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw. Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 22, 2012 in the funeral home.  Pastor Bob Brown will officiate the service. Burial will be at Hillcrest Cemetery with Military Honors by the American Legion Post 49 and the VFW 1126.
