Donna Ross

Donna Ross, 96, Barbee Lake of Warsaw, died at 8:53 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 2, 2022, at home in Barbee Lake.

She was born March 25, 1926, in Warsaw, to Grace A. Shoemaker Mason and Alfred M. Cartwright. On June 23, 1945, she married Dale Dean Ross. They were blessed with three children and 56 years of marriage together before Dale died Dec. 28, 2001.

Donna was a lifetime resident of Kosciusko County and attended Etna Green High School in Etna Green. She enjoyed the fellowship of her church family at the Church of Christ in Columbia City. She was a smart lady who worked alongside her husband for many years in the family business, Dale Ross Drywall in Warsaw. Her favorite job in her lifetime was simply being mom and in her later years, she relished being a grandmother and great-grandmother. She never really retired, because mom’s never do; she always kept busy, especially being a cheerleader at her grandchildren’s sporting events. Donna loved to winter in Leesburg, Fla., where she played golf and went fishing. She loved to take walks and crochet wherever she happened to be. Donna was a fantastic cook and over the years her family enjoyed eating her fried potatoes and of course, the best chocolate frosted chocolate cake she was known for making. She dearly loved her family and was always attentive to their needs, always there for them and never ran out of love to give. Donna was wonderful mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who will be forever loved and remembered.

She leaves behind two daughters, Linda Shull, Warsaw and Patricia (Joseph) Stump, Pierceton; daughter-in-law, Kathy Ross, Pierceton; 13 grandchildren, Craig (Patty) Shull, Warsaw, Theresa (Brad) Hall, Pierceton, Steven Shull, Warsaw, Kristin (Jeremy) Cox, Claypool, Stephanie (Jose) Gutierrez, Mentone, Cy Stump, Pierceton, Elizabeth Stump, Pierceton, Elaine Smith, Pierceton, Jaxsyn Stump, Pierceton, Lillian Stump, Pierceton, Sherry (Mike) Caverley, Warsaw, Denise (Don) Brown, Goshen and Jason Ross, Pierceton; and 24 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Dale; son Dennis D. Ross; great-granddaughter, Sadie Hall; three brothers, Hap, Devon and Jr. Cartwright; two sisters, Annie Sievers and Betty Thomas; and her son-in-law, Darell Shull.

Donna’s life will be celebrated with a service at 3 p.m. Monday, Nov. 7, 2022, at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw, and officiated by Pastor Anthony Green.
