She was born Sep. 2, 1964.

She is survived by her son, Josh Wolf, Mishawaka; daughter, Casey Wolf, Franklin, N.C.; sister, Gina (Brian) Chasse, South Whitley; brother, Eugene (Shannon) Laytart, Weldon, N.C.; and nine grandchildren.

Cassandra Jamae “Cassie” Doerr

Cassandra Jamae “Cassie” Doerr, 29, Leesburg, died Sunday, July 17, 2022, as the result of an automobile accident near Warsaw. She was born July 8, 1993, in Janesville, Wis. to Robert W. and Jami L. (Roningen) Doerr.

She grew up most of her life living in Syracuse, where she attended Wawasee Community Schools until seventh grade. As a Wawasee Warrior, she enjoyed cheerleading. Beginning her eight grade year, she then moved to Lakeville, Minn. where she attended Lakeville North High School. She formerly lived in Belle Plaine, Minn. before moving back to the Leesburg/North Webster area. She was employed at Par-Kan in Silver Lake and worked in Final Assembly.

Cassie enjoyed fun with family and friends, having a good time and living life to the fullest. She made so many friends wherever she went. As a mommy to her sweet loving daughter, Audrina, she made sure Audrina had everything she ever needed and was well taken care of! She will be missed by so many and will be remembered for her strong, unique, lightening bolt in human form, heart that could melt the sun attitude and personality.

Cassie is survived by her daughter, Audrina Doerr; parents, Bobby (Lynette) Doerr, Leesburg and Jami (Yuri) Schladweiler, Minnesota; and sister, Carly (Trent) Griffith, Claypool. Also surviving are a half sister, Emma Thompson, Minnesota; half brother, Payton Thompson, Minnesota; three stepsisters, Casey (Sam) Evett, Milford, Jennifer Riner, Fort Wayne and Korena Riner, Fort Wayne; and Cody Schladweiler, Minnesota and Collin Schladweiler, New York. She is also remembered by her paternal grandparents, Phil and Sandy Lund, Cromwell and William Doerr, Edgerton, Wis.; and maternal grandfather, Roderick Roningen, Janesville, Wis.

A celebration of life gathering will take place from noon until 4 p.m. Saturday, July 30, 2022, at the Danny’s Sports Bar & Grill Upstairs at 3620 N. Barbee Road Unit 2, Warsaw. Owen Family Funeral Home in North Webster is assisting with arrangements.

Sharon L. Brunner, 80, formerly of Columbia City, died at 10:53 a.m. Tuesday, July 19, 2022, at Peabody Retirement Community, North Manchester.

She was born July 28, 1941.

She married Reino Panula in 1960; he preceded her in death. She later married Frederick L. Brunner on June 4, 1978; he preceded her in death.

She is survived by her son, Jeffrey Brunner, Columbia City; five grandchildren; a stepgrandson; four great-grandchildren; and a sister, Vicki A. Fahl, Columbia City.

Roland J. Espinoza, 70, Warsaw, died Saturday, July 23, 2022, in his home.

He was born June 26, 1952.

He married Dixie Lee (Creakbaum) Espinoza on Nov. 21, 1981; she survives.

He is also survived by his children, Dawn (LD) Harmount, Rolla, Mo., Mary (Tony) Nicholas, Warsaw, Cissy (James) Crouse, Onemo, Va. and Brandi Kelly, Warsaw; mother, Susana Espinoza; siblings Armando (Sarah) Espinoza, Pierceton, Dolores (David) Bumbaugh, Claypool and Steven (Joanna) Espinoza, Fort Wayne; 15 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Thomas H. “Tom” Brookman

Thomas H. “Tom” Brookman, 71, Claypool, died unexpectedly July 25, 2022, at his home. Tom was born April 11, 1951, in Kalamazoo, Mich., the son of Harland and Betty Brookman.

Tom was an avid hunter and fisherman, often traveling to the wilds of Canada. He also enjoyed bowling, Western movies and playing computer games. Tom will be remembered for his sense of humor and running jokes with his neighbors.

Tom will be missed by his life partner, Noma McPeak; daughter, Amy Brookman; six grandchildren; stepchildren, Kayla (Samuel) Young and Gauge (Courtney) McPeak; sisters, Carolyn (Bill) Wise, Sue Ann (Mike) Hatfield and Judy Wilcox; and brother, Ron (Lynn) Brookman. He is further survived by several nieces and nephews. Tom was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Barb.

He was born Nov. 5, 1945.

He married Susan D. Sparks on June 19, 1965; she preceded him in death.

Larry is survived by his daughter, Tana (William) Elliott, Claypool; his son, Kirk (Kelly) Gochenour, Bourbon; his four grandchildren; his two great-grandchildren; his brothers, Joe (Alana) Gochenour, Winona Lake and Steve (Vicky) Gochenour, Columbus.

Zachary ‘Zach’ Rautenkranz

Zachary E. “Zach” Rautenkranz

Zachary E. Rautenkranz, 36, Silver Lake, formerly of Claypool, died Thursday, July 28, 2022.

Zach was born July 16, 1986, in Warsaw, the son of Ronald J. Rautenkranz and (the late) Jackie L. (Bradley) Rautenkranz. He graduated from Warsaw Community High School with the Class of ’05 and joined the U.S. Marine Corps. spending the next 10 years proudly serving his country. On May 2, 2012, while stationed in New York, Zach married Morgan (Ousley) Rautenkranz.

He was employed as a maintenance technician at Zimmer Biomet and attended Victory Rock Church. Zach was a loving father and husband, who cherished the time he spent with his family. He was a sports fan, especially the Dallas Cowboys and the Chicago Cubs and he also enjoyed playing video games. With a love for the outdoors, Zach enjoyed hunting and fishing and riding his Harley. His adventuresome side also led him to try bull riding.

Zach is survived by his wife, Morgan and their children, Lucas and Diana. Also surviving are his father, Ronald Rautenkranz, Pierceton; his mother and father-in-law, Ladonna and Burnis Ousley, Warsaw; his sister, Alexis J. Rautenkranz, Wabash; and his aunts, uncles and cousins.

Zach was preceded in death by his mother, Jackie Rautenkranz; his sister, Diana Rautenkranz Mitchem; and his grandparents, Barbara and Dyrell “Buck” Kreis and John and Phyllis Rautenkranz.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 4, 2022, at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, 2290 Provident Court with visitation from 10-11 a.m. Visitation also from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, at the funeral home. Interment will follow the funeral service in Graceland Cemetery, Claypool, with military honors.

Roland J. “Felix” Espinoza

Roland J. “Felix” Espinoza, 70, Warsaw, died Saturday, July 23, 2022, in his home.

Felix was born June 26, 1952, in Nassawadox, Va. the son of (the late) Roberto and Susana (Reyna) Espinoza Sr. He was united in marriage to Dixie Lee (Creakbaum) Espinoza on Nov. 21, 1981, in Warsaw.

He was a graduate of Pierceton High School. Roland worked as a Journeyman Finisher for R.R. Donnelly Printing Company, retiring in 2016 with 43 years of service.

Felix will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 40 years, Dixie Espinoza, Warsaw; children, Dawn (LD) Harmount, Rolla, Mo., Mary (Tony) Nicholas, Warsaw, Cissy (James) Crouse, Onemo, Va. and Brandi Kelly, Warsaw; mother, Susana Espinoza; siblings, Armando (Sarah) Espinoza, Pierceton, Dolores (David) Bumbaugh, Claypool and Steven (Joanna) Espinoza, Fort Wayne. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren, Tiffany Simpson, Taylor Ridenhour, Dylan, Austyn, Jullyan and Audriaña Harmount, Zach and Abby Nicholas, Caitlyn, JJ and Andrew Crouse, Autumn, Sebastion, Zane and Winnie Kelly; and 8 great-grandchildren. In addition to his father, Felix was preceded in passing by two brothers, Robert Espinoza and Ruben Espinoza; and one granddaughter, Lilly Kelly.

Visitation will be from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 4, 2022, at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapels, 105 First St. Pierceton. Funeral services in celebration of his life will begin at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 5, 2022, in the Pierceton Funeral Chapel with Roger Gareiss officiating. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Cemetery, Pierceton.

Judy E. Hyde

Judy E. Hyde, 67, Warsaw, died Sunday, July 31, 2022, at Mason Health and Rehabilitation Center, Warsaw.

She was born Sep. 30, 1954, in Warsaw, the daughter of Odell (McCool) Herron and (the late) Murry Herron Sr.

Judy graduated from Warsaw Community High School with the Class of ’74 and had retired from Chore-Time Brock after 21 years with the company. Judy was an active member of the Salvation Army Worship and Community Center, Warsaw.

She is survived by her children, Adam Hyde, Claypool and Katie (Dan) Sacks, Vevay; grandchildren, Shelbie, Autumn and Noah Hyde, all of Claypool; her mother, Odell Herron, Warsaw; brother, Murry Herron Jr., Clearwater, Fla.; sisters, Martha Young, Warsaw and Dorothy Brumfield, Lady Lake, Fla. Judy was preceded in death by her husband, Bert Edward Hyde; and her father, Murry Herron Sr.

Burial will take place in Oakwood Cemetery. A celebration of Judy’s life will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 4, 2022, in The Salvation Army Church, 501 E. Arthur St., Warsaw. Arrangements through McHatton Sadler Funeral Chapel, 2290 Provident Court, Warsaw.

Theodore LeRoy “Ted” Hanes

Theodore LeRoy “Ted” Hanes, 94, Claypool, died at 8:35 a.m. Monday, Aug. 1, 2022.

He was born March 31, 1928, in Los Angeles, Calif. He was one of four children born to Viva Blanch (Netzley) and Charles Carl Hanes. Ted married the love of his life, Iris Evonne Neff, on Valentines Day, Feb. 14, 1960. They were blessed with the joy of becoming parents, grandparents and great-grandparents throughout their journey of 62 years of marriage.

Ted graduated from Covina High School in Covina, Calif., and continued on with his undergraduate studies at UC Davis and UCLA. He earned his doctorate from UCLA and spent his career teaching biology at California State University of Fullerton. He loved learning and teaching, and was an authority and expert in California Coastal Vegetation, was an Audubon Society instructor and board chair of both Western Christian Schools and LaVerne Grace Brethren Church. Ted was a loving father and his greatest accomplishment was simply being there for his family. He enjoyed attending every game and event his four children participated in while they were growing up.

Upon retirement, Ted and Iris moved in August 1999 from Los Angeles, Calif., to a farm in Kosciusko County. They very much enjoyed the fellowship of their church family at Christ’s Covenant Church, Winona Lake, as well as Cornerstone Grace Church, South Whitley. He was a faithful Christian man who loved Jesus and served Him faithfully in his marriage, family, church, career and community. He will be dearly missed by his family and those who knew him. Ted left a legacy of love, kindness, patience and generosity. His family is rejoicing in the knowledge that Ted is now in Christ’s presence, with a renewed mind and body and with the assurance that his family will be reunited in Christ once again.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Iris Evonne Hanes, Claypool; two sons, Mark (Lauri) Hanes, Winona Lake and Doug (Kari) Hanes, Claypool; two daughters, Linda (Dale) Payne, Visalia, Calif. and Nina Hanes Banks, Louisville, Ky.; 19 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; and one sister.

Ted’s life will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 5, 2022, at Christ’s Covenant Church, 2090 E. Pierceton Road, Winona Lake, and officiated by Pastor Larry McCall and Pastor Edward Robertson. There will be visitation an hour prior to the service at the church from 10-11 a.m. A private family graveside service will take place at Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw. Arrangements were entrusted to Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw.

He was born Sep. 20, 1967.

He married Anne Raikes; she survives. He then married Beth Woodford Bibler; she survives.

Chad Lee Bibler

Chad Lee Bibler, 54, Grove City, Ohio, died unexpectedly Sunday, July 31, 2022, at Grady Memorial Hospital, Delaware, Ohio.

Chad was born Sep. 20, 1967, in Logansport, to Larry D. and Carolyn L. (Bundy) Bibler. He married Anne Raikes and then married Beth Woodford Bibler; they survive.

He was a 1986 graduate of Tippecanoe Valley High School. He furthered his education at Taylor University and Grace College, where he attained a bachelors degree in biology. He owned and operated Bibler Painting since 1998. Chad also, in earlier years, taught for Bremen Schools and coached for Bremen and Argos.

Chad was a proud member of the NAIA Grace College National Championship men’s basketball team. He coached and assisted with his children’s sports teams. He also loved golfing, cooking and was an avid sports fan. Chad also enjoyed listening to music and could be quite the comedian. He was God fearing, funny and always cared for others. He will be remembered as an over-teacher and a jokester.

He is survived by his children, Jacob Lee Bibler, Hannah Marie Bibler, Grace Ann Bibler, Cashton Lee Bibler and Tessa Elle Bibler; mother, Carolyn Lauer, Canadian, Texas; father, Larry (Carol) Bibler, Sun City, Ariz.; sister, Amy (Ronnie Schafer) Bibler, Canadian, Texas; sister-in-law, Stephanie Bibler, Claypool; and nieces, Chelsea (Sean) McCloskey and Megan (Treston) Fisher.

Chad was preceded in death by his brother. Scott Bibler; and grandparents, Howard and Mabel Bibler and Hiram and Dora Bundy.

The funeral service will take place at 1 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 6, 2022, at King Memorial Home, 101 N. Tucker St., Mentone, with Pastor Denny Wilson officiating.

The interment will take place following the service in the Mentone Cemetery, Mentone.

Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to the time of the service, at the funeral home.

Lillian L. Lozier

Lillian L. Lozier, 90, Warsaw, died Thursday, Aug. 25, 2022, at Millers Merry Manor, Warsaw.

Lillian was born April 18, 1932, in Warsaw, the daughter of (the late) Samuel LeRoy Evans and Lizzie Ellen (Foreman) Evans. She graduated from Claypool High School with the Class of ’50, where she was voted Miss Claypool in her sophomore year.

Lillian married Frederick A. Lozier on March 18, 1951, and he preceded her in death on July 8, 1989, after 38 years of marriage. Lillian was active in her church, Warsaw Community Church, and formerly North Winona Church of the Brethren. She was a greeter, welcoming people and serving coffee. She would do anything to be of assistance to others. She was a homemaker and later a home health care provider.

Lillian was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who cherished the time she spent with family and friends and enjoyed traveling. She especially loved their trips to Hawaii and Florida and going on cruises; she liked the beaches and being around the water. She also enjoyed gardening and playing cards.

Lillian is survived by, and will be dearly missed, by her son, Steven Lozier, Warsaw; daughter, Stacy Ritenour, Warsaw; daughters-in-law, Carolyn Lozier, Warsaw and Dreama Lozier, Pierceton; her grandchildren, A.J. (Gracia) Lozier and Rachelle “Shelly” (Jose) Rosario, both of Warsaw, Anthony, Brittany and Cameron Ritenour, all of Harland, Ky., Dylan Ritenour, Bristol, Shaun (Brittney) Gardner, Leesburg, Adam (Montana) Gardner, Warsaw, Scott Gardner, Pierceton and Samuel Lozier, Pierceton; great-grandchildren, Lily, Aiden, Maddox and Warrick Lozier, Ella and Evie Gonzalez, Rocco Rosario, Keagan, Addison and Zoey Gardner and Helena and Eleanor Gardner; and one great-great-grandchild “on the way.” Lillian is also survived by her brother, Ralph Evans, Warsaw; sisters: Mary Beth (Jack) Camden, Pierceton and Thelma Boyer, Warsaw; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Lillian was also preceded in death by sons, Stanley Lozier and Samuel Lozier; brothers, Earl, Russell and Charles Evans; and sisters, Ruby Drane, Julia Morts and May Beigh.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 30, 2022, at McHatton Sadler Funeral Chapel, 2290 Provident Court, Warsaw, with Rev. Denny Wilson officiating. Visitation is  from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 30, in the funeral home. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw. Larry D. Hyden

Larry D. Hyden, 73, Mentone, died Saturday, Aug. 27, 2022, at home in Mentone. He was born Feb. 12, 1949, in Paintsville, Ky., the son of (the late) Eugene Hyden and Katherine (Young) Hyden.

After high school, Larry earned his degree in tool and die design. He married Suzanne (Hite) Hyden on June 8, 1968; Sue survives after 54 years of marriage. Larry worked as a pattern maker at Dalton Foundry and retired after 40 years with the company. He was a affiliate at Freewill Baptist Church in Claypool, and he cherished the time he spent with his family. He rarely if ever missed any of his grandsons’ sporting events or family reunions. He also enjoyed his fishing trips to Mississippi and stock car racing.

In addition to his wife Suzanne, Larry is also survived by his sons, William (Mindy) Hyden, Silver Lake and Larry (Michelle) Hyden, Akron; his grandchildren, Drake (Kelsey) Hyden, Akron, Travis (Maisey Cook) Hyden, Sidney and Hunter (Hannah Ames) Hyden, Akron; his sisters, Patty Ann (Danny) Clifton, Lagro, Christine (Johnnie) Spears, Wabash and Charlotte Smith, Warsaw; and his brothers, Anthony Hyden, Warsaw and William (Lydia) Hyden, South Whitley.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Roger Hyden and Glen Hyden; and sisters, Sharon Tucker and Tina Hyden.

Visitation is from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 30, 2022, at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, 2290 Provident Court, Warsaw. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 31, with a viewing one hour prior to the service in the funeral chapel. Burial will follow the service in Palestine Cemetery.

Rex J. Drudge

Rex was born Jan. 15, 1933, in Kosciusko County, to the late Orville L. Drudge and Mary Jane (Stickler) Drudge. He married on June 30, 1956, in Claypool, to Alma G. Setser; she preceded him in death on June 29, 2016.

Rex was a 1951 graduate of Claypool High School. He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He had been a truck driver and retired from Sun Metal of Warsaw after 33 years, where he worked in shipping and manufacturing. Rex enjoyed going out to eat all around the area. He also traveled to many different states following his passion for fishing.

He is survived by his children, Eddie (Rebecca) Drudge, Claypool, John (Karla) Drudge, Warsaw and Rose Zartman, Leesburg; daughter-in-law Christina Brooks Drudge, Jacksonville, Fla.; 10 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren; and sister, Martha Klinger, Atwood.

Rex was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Alma Drudge; son, Rodger Dean Drudge (July 2022); sister, Marie Applegate; and a brother, Norman E. Drudge.

Memorial visitation will take place from 9:30-11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 16, 2022, at Cook’s Chapel Church, 4567 W. CR 100S, Warsaw, with military honors at 11 a.m. A memorial service will take place following the military honors officiated by Pastor Earl Futch.

The arrangements have been entrusted to King Memorial Home, 101 N. Tucker St., Mentone.

Rex will be interred next to his wife in the Harrison Center Cemetery, Etna Green.
