
Kay Kuhn
Kay A. Kuhn, beloved mother, grandmother, daughter and friend, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, Dec. 31, 2023, at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne. She was born on Nov. 13, 1953, in Warsaw, to Alvin and Laurine Waldbeser (Haines).
After graduating from Wawasee High School in 1972, Kay embarked on a fulfilling career. She worked at Bluebell in Warsaw as a seamstress and later worked at Choretime Brock in Milford. Additionally, she shared her nurturing nature by babysitting for many children over the years.
On Feb. 10, 1973, in Milford, Kay married her true love, Derk Kuhn. The two shared 37 years together before his passing in March of 2010. Kay and Derk spent their lives raising their three daughters. She and Derk always believed that their proudest achievements were their family.
In addition to caring for her loved ones, Kay also had a rich personal life filled with hobbies and interests that brought her joy. She found solace in reading romance novels and took great pride in her flower garden. She also had a soft spot for animals. Above all, Kay’s greatest happiness came from spending quality time with her family, creating memories that will be cherished forever.
Those who survive with broken hearts include her three daughters, Jennifer (Eddie) Fields, of Claypool, Tracy (Chad) Mayhill, of Monticello, and Sara (Brenden) Kiphart, of Mentone; grandchildren, Bryan Fields, Kyler Mayhill, Kadence Mayhill, Bailee Kiphart and Isla Kiphart; mother, Laurine Waldbeser Gaskill; brother, Ben (Deb) Waldbeser; brothers-in-law, Paul Kuhn, Chad (Deb) Kuhn and Kim (Shirley) Kuhn; and sister-in-law, Pam (Keith) Harrison. She is further survived by several nieces and nephews, as well as many friends. She was preceded in passing by her husband, Derk; father, Alvin; and stepfather, Tom Gaskill.
Titus Funeral Home of Syracuse is entrusted with the care of Kay. Friends may join her family there, 1001 S. Huntington St., Syracuse, from 4-8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 5. On Saturday, Jan. 6, her Life Celebration will begin at 11 a.m., with doors opening an hour prior. She will be laid to rest at Mount Pleasant Cemetery next to her husband.
